Talking to Myself
Do you ever talk to yourself? If so you could
keep company with me because I often find myself having a good conversation with myself. If you don’t talk to yourself you might
think, boy that guy is weird. Well let me assure you that I am (according to those who know me) just a normal guy.
In the Bible there is a story about a Shulamite
girl that talked to herself. Actually the story is a love story about a girl that was abducted and taken to Solomon’s pavilion. It
is there among several other women she was overheard talking to herself. She said things like, “thy love is better than wine” and “thy
name is like ointment poured forth” (Song of Solomon 1:2-3). That sounds so poetic. What do you think she means?
The Shulamite girl found herself surrounded
with the riches of Solomon and the constant appeal of the other women to give in. However, she found a way to keep her mind and heart
focused. She constantly reminded herself of her true love, the shepherd.
The lesson in this story is relevant to you and
me today. We are constantly pressured to compromise beliefs and convictions. The solution is to keep our hearts and minds filled with
the thoughts of Jesus Christ and what he has done for us.

See you in church Sunday.
